News stories- Blog post

1) What were the five stories your group chose to broadcast?

Greenford news story: Three men convicted of taking a body from a grave and putting it in their bedroom.
National news story: Women gives birth to a baby girl outside Primark in Birmingham.
London news story: Death of Tommy Main is unexplained after he has been said to have taken part in a online punch game.
Sports news story: Belgium win 2-1 against USA
Funny news story: Miley Cyrus says Birmingham is the sluttiest city in the world.

2) For each story above, explain WHY you chose that particular story and not something else. Why would it interest a Greenford audience?

Greenford news story: We chose this story because it was really different and odd as of why someone would do this and its also happened in the area so because its local the people within the area would want to know more.
National news story: We chose this story because it was just different compared to other stories happening nearby.
London news story: We chose this story because it is unexplained and the last thing he was doing doesn't seem like something that usually has a huge link to someones death.
Sports news story: We chose this story because it is something which is talked about a lot. Most definitely within teens.
Funny news story: We chose this story because Miley Cyrus is someone nearly everyone knows and the statement she has made could raise a lot of discussions

3) What order did you broadcast the stories in? Why did you place the stories in that order?

We placed it in the same order as it was said to do it in because the topics that usually cause a discussion in people are things such as sport or something funny, therefore we did those at the end to make sure the audience kept their attention for the other more serious news then gave them something to talk about near the end.

4) How did you make sure the script was the right length?

We tried to make it short and snappy so we could fit it all into 60 seconds and then we did a run through of it to see if we had any time left or if we went over. From that we knew if we should add more or take certain things away.

5) How did you make sure each story was clear and easy to understand?

We used them as headlines so that they could understand the main concept of what it is and added only a few other detailed that might of been needed.

6) How did you make sure the broadcast was professional?

We chose the person in the group that was confident and clear in the way they talk so everyone who was watching could understand. We also tried to speak formally and have the same speed as most 60 second news channels.

7) What was your specific role in the group?

I helped to pick out the stories and write them down. We tried to make everyone do a little bit of everything so we could come up with the best decisions.

8) Rate your group’s ability to work collaboratively out of 5 (1=poor, 5=excellent)

I'd say around 4.

9) How could your group have worked more effectively as a team?

We could of all done the work a bit more faster at our individual tasks to come together and discuss it more.

10) Finally, what would you have done differently if you were given the opportunity to do this again?

I would work on the script a bit more to make it more perfectional in the way in which it sounds.
